KL Deputy Minister said over 15,000 foreign women are arrested for prostitution from 2004 to July 2006. And they are said to be on social visit visa and moonlighting during their stay.
And a Parliament man said he met a transvestite from Brunei relocating to KL because the rules n Malaysia is more lenient..I am more curious how did they meet haha..A statesman and a transvestite?
I do wonder whipping these pretty women would deter new comers? Or could that mean Singapore will receive more of this segment of visitors and drive up its tourist headcounts? I do not think it can totally stop the supply if there is a demand.
Well I am not sure about KL sex industry whether it is regulated and one of a kind legitimate business. But I do doubt.
I am not comparing the two rivals nor testifying for Singapore because I am living here. But in this aspect I appreciate how Singapore handle the flesh trade. I am not sure what is the real logic behind making prostitution legal. Who would want to argue that prostitution or bluntly commercial SEX can be killed and totally can be banned like chewing gums? As long as we mankind breathe and eat, BLOOD and hormone still exists within our bodies.....sex will be around and so does the sex industry. Maybe not require for maried ones but the singles? divorced souls? Widows? where do they go? what do they do if they want sex? DIY? or Rape someone? Or seduce one's wife or girl friends? na........ right...So bu putting the flesh trade on the table and keeping watch it can really deter many unwanted stuffs. I don't think I need to elaborate and itemize them. Well done Singapore...
And even in regulated Singapore Sex Industry, there are still illegal prostitution's and sex crimes. The unwanted visitor-cum-street walkers do flock to Singapore as much as they go to KL I am sure. And that's the reson Singapore have to upgrade it Prison Facilities..I am just kidding haha..might not be for this reason.
Yup caning and whipping their buttocks will do some tricks to stop the ladies and the lady boys coming walking KL streets...but I do wonder would it be as effective as KL want it? And How do KL gonna do about it?

After reading your story, I pity those sex works in Malaysia if punishing whip is to be implemented. For sure, I think they will suffer more than just a whip but perhaps assults of all sorts by the police. Even developed countries have that problem when sex works are arrested.
Singapore regulating this industry is a good way to put things in order. Malaysia cannot and will not legalise prostitution because Malaysia has a strong Islamic background.
If I was Malaysia government and if I really wanted to tackle this issue, I might go to the extend of revoking these foreigners' visas. I mean, look, these prostitutes have suffered a great deal, haven't they? Why whip them then.
Sigh.
