During one of our lunch breaks, a colleague happened to ask about Myanmar Jade and that triggered me to rewind my bitter sweet memories. Bitter for being oh-so-harsh miner. A life of miner..was so harsh, so tough that I say "bitter". Sweet, in the sense, great memories of great sceneries, pure, plain and oh-so-down-to-earth people that I met during my year long hideout in Myanmar Jade Land..
I explained briefly what's the raw Jade fresh out of the mine and compared with what we used to see in Jewellery shops' windows. And sharing my true life expereriences with them from 4-day-or-more trekking journey through amazon-like jungles to the dream land...
Leaving them "Aww"" and coming home but my memories still tagged along and I missed my long lost friends. I lied on my bed closing my eyes to call it a day. But I just couldn't get rid of the laughters I shared with my miner mates. The images of lovely people just reeled off from my closed and tired eyes like movies. I felt asleep but I was cooking in our miner hut. We were picking firewoods for cooking and warming us through the chilly nights. We were digging the ground furiously in search of precious stones and sharing the tales of successful miners. The dins of sharpening our tools preparing for the next day and the cheering and disappointing moans from gambling dens played musics to my ears.
[They are not catwalk models. But strking impressive pose that Super Model Lile Cole and Naomi alike would want to give up being supermodels. The tradition costumes, the silver wares and head gears!!]
That went on a few days and I was not satisfied any more just to imagine and day dreaming. So I went on to google hoping to see the images of Jade Mines,Phakant.
Guys if you are expecting me to share with you my miner life please be patient ok! I will sure do and I really wanted to document the experience that will never be faded away. But for now I cant just wait to share with you colourful cultures of our people, our tribes and their fashions. It's awesome. It's fabulous. With no formal training on colours or on fashion but hey look at the photos. The creations, the stiches and the styles will surely give all world renown fashion houses a run for their money..
[Would you like to take a stroll along the scenic riverside?]
Flipping and browsing photos truely make me felt homesick and at the same times felt so bad for the country. We have so much to offer culturally & geographically to be the top tourist destination and yet we are so far behind amongst the neighbours.
Ask me what we couldn't offer? Nothing that can't offer. We don't even need to delibrately build the attractions. We don't even need to hold any trade shows, conventions to attract MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions)dollars which is the IN thing that the world capitals are fiercely fighting to get a pie of it.
We have ice-capped mountains that we could offer as skiing resorts. We have mountains near and far that could attract trekking and hiking enthusiasts. We have bwilds and jungles with rich inhabitants that could boost ecotourism. We have great lakes & rivers that can be packaged to well-heeled travellers for their weekend get-away escapedes and cruises.
For food lovers, we have many traditional food all around the countries. We all know that all ethnic groups have their own delicacies and we all love to eat regardless of our ethnicities. We have so much more food to offer other than oily, salty one.
We can't beat Bangkok for party lovers but we can offer alternative dance parties like in the photos. I am sure they will like the drum beats with our unique rice & fruit based wines. I am sure they will dance their hair down with traditional Kachin Khaung Yay and BBQ feast that they will love to come more.Hey come on. Here we are talking about countless ethnic groups, Shan, Kachin, Kayin , Mon, Rakhine and so on..
I only posted Kachin and Naga photos. I will occasionally post the photos of other groups and sceneries later. But look, just Naga & Kachine alone..How amazing..Their costumes..The colours, The beauties.. OMG...
Beach resorts and alike? Need me to mention? I dont think so. Just look at the pictures.
[ Ngwe Saung Beach, Myanmar. Not Moldives nor a pacific island beach]
Oh so much! But why!!!!!WHY!!!!!! we are so isolated as if we were the lost planet.

Bro,
Great Work. You have shown our country's hidden beauty to the world. I appriciate it. I feel like going back now.
one word - awesome!
two words - amazingly awesome!
Hi, amazing photos that I had never seen before.I visited Myanmar in June 2005 and I loved it. I understand why you must feel isolated- because many Westerners don't think they have the 'right' to travel to your country..they fear the worst that money will fall into the wrong hands from the moment that go through immigration..there is another way though, i know! i wish others in other countries know this too and visit and meet the most amazing people ever!
